Why I choose Ryobi

I first started using the Ryobi drills about 10 years ago with their mini 12v drill/driver. I was looking for a small drill to use on my models but wanted something that could do a little more.

Since beginning with this Ryobi drill I have since loved it and used it for a lot of jobs. I liked the little drill but wanted something with a little more grunt so I decided to get this next drill.

This drill was a perfect addition to my kit as it added a hammer drill function. I love this all purpose drill because it is part of the 18V one+ and it can drill, drive screws and has a hammer drill function. It is an all in one drill that goes with me to almost every job.

This would have been the perfect combination of drill but I wanted to get an impact driver for those bigger jobs with lots of driving screws. It has extra power and torque to screw in those hard screws into hardwood.

With the extra power and torque it makes it easier to drive screws in all day. It means I don't have to switch the drill bit to a screw driver bit in my drill, saving time and making it quicker on the job.

The next addition to my Ryobi kit was a rotary hammer drill. This hammer drill has a faster hammer speed making it easier and quicker to drill into masonry. It was the perfect upgrade to my Ryobi one+ kit, making drilling into masonry easier and quicker.

With all these drill come the batteries which I got with most of the drills. The drill and impact wrench came with 2 batteries each and I purchased the 5ah battery separately to have a long lasting battery. I have 5 18V one+ batteries for all my power tools which should be enough for all my jobs.

With all these batteries for the Ryobi 18V one+ system I have been thinking to add to my Ryobi tools with the angle grinder. I have been getting away with a hacksaw and file for most of my jobs and have been wanting an angle grinder.

With an angle it would make some jobs easier and quicker saving me time and potentially making me more money.

Ryobi - HIA home show

While I was at the HIA home show over the weekend I went to see the Ryobi stand to check out their tool range. I love the Ryobi range and like that their not top price but still has the quality to perform again and again.

I already have the 12v drill driver that has outperformed what I expected it to do. It has drilled through 10mm steel, driven screws into hardwood and more. I also have the 18v drill driver hammer drill that I love, it can do everything in a compact form. It is my go to drill when I need to do alot of drilling and especially drilling through concrete or tiles.

At the HIA home show while at the Ryobi stand I entered their competition to win a load of their tools, they would come in handy for my business. When I scanned my quick read code I noticed that I had won a prize. I had won a pair of work gloves, safety glasses and a lanyard.

I have a hard time finding a perfect fitting pair of gloves that work well but also fit perfectly, but the Ryobi pair fit perfectly and feel nice to wear. I also like the safety glasses, they fit my head perfectly and are comfortable to wear.

With the lanyard I will attach a USB stick to it to store some work documents and information. I love the Ryobi range and like that it doesn't cost the earth.

I have a small selection of Ryobi tools that is slowly growing as I need more tools to complete more jobs.

My own little project

Since starting Adam's Handy Hands I have been thinking about all the tools and materials i would need and how much space in the car they would take up.

I started with a few tools and the basic materials and have steadily been buying more tools and materials. I was stacking my tool bag and materials in the back of my small van, cramming them in to just fit.

I had an idea to make a shelf for the back of my van to allow me to stack my tools above my materials and storage boxes. I made a simple shelf with draw to accommodate all my boxes and tool bags without having to remove them all to get to the boxes underneath.

I added some eye hooks to the sides to secure the shelf to the tie down points in my car. I also added some eye hooks to secure the boxes and tool bags to the shelf to stop them from moving around.

With a few pieces of timber from my local hardware store I was able to create a great shelf for the back of my van. This allows me to organize my tools and materials so their easily accessible when needed.

This is the end result, and I find that it it make it a lot easier to access my tools and plastic boxes when needed. It also keeps everything secure so it won't move around the back of my van.

Ryobi 18V one + Hammer drill kit

As I have had great use out of my Ryobi 12v drill driver and it has been a great drill despite only being a 12v mini drill.

I have been looking at getting a hammer drill to expand my tools and jobs that I can do, I looked at a lot of different brands and price ranges. I didn't want a cheap drill that would only last a year, but something that would last a years without fault but not cost a small fortune.

I decided that since my small Ryobi drill has been so great and beyond what I would have thought it would do. So I decided to go with a Ryobi hammer drill as it is a brand that is well known but won't cost a small fortune.

While I waited to save the money to purchase the Ryobi 18v hammer drill, Bunnings had a Ryobi 18v hammer drill kit at a good price. It wasn't your ordinary kit, it came with 2 X 1.3ah or 1.5ah batteries, a great hard case and 100 piece drill/driving accessories.

As I hadn't quite saved up the money for the Hammer drill kit $199, I decided to purchase the kit. As with all drill kits they don't seem to be available for very long and at such a great price it wasn't going to stay on the shelf very long.

Now that I have the hammer drill kit and 100 piece accessory kit I love it. It is at a great price and the hammer drill alone is about the same price.

I didn't need all the accessories, but since the drill alone was almost the price of this kit it was worth purchasing and having some extra drill bits and screwdriver bits.

Thanks Ryobi for making such a great hammer drill kit with so many useful accessories that I know I will use along with a great case.

Ryobi 12v Drill

The mighty 12v Ryobi drill

A couple of years ago I received a Ryobi 12v drill as a present and was just going to be using this for drill only small holes and screw screws in.

I liked that it was a small compact drill in size and weight and included a quick charger. It is a great little drill that is handy for all those DIY jobs.

As I started doing more flat pack assemble I used this drill to drive the screws in making it alot easier on the hand and wrist. I then got some jobs requiring a drill to drill into timber and steel.

Instead of spending more money on another drill to do these jobs I decided to test the full capability of this drill. I had to drill through some solid timber to start with and then needed to drill through 5mm steel and then the timber.

With a good quality drill bit I gave the drill a go at drilling through the steel. It took some time to get started (like any normal drill would) but then kept powering on. I needed to drill a 9mm hole through this steel which the drill did with power and battery to spare.

Despite this drill being small and light, it has surprised me in how much power it has and what it can do.

 I would highly recommend this little drill to anyone wanting a drill to do everything, but not want the size and weight of anything larger.
