If you have some spares rooms in your house and have thought about renting them out for Airbnb then you might want to think about installing some locks on your doors.

I have had some experience in changing door handles over to locks. There are some problems that can happen when changing over to new door locks. You may need to enlarge the hole where the handle goes or enlarge the hole where the latch goes.

Sometimes the installation can be straight forward and go as planned but it can also be not so easy and you can come into some trouble. You may need to modify where the door handle goes to accommodate the new handle. You may already have a drill suitable for the job, but then need to purchase the correct drill bit or hole saw to complete the job.

These extra bits you may need to purchase to complete the job properly can add up and cost you more then you expect.

There are many different brands and types of door handles out there. Some may work perfectly with others but some may need some modification to work. The modification can range from a simple drilling a bigger hole to chiseling out some more timber (making sure to not chisel out to much).
